I don’t get out much.
Like honestly, I really don’t.
And I feel like we can all agree that technology has taken over completely because why are we always on these damn phones? 😭
And I’m not even judging anybody because I’m talking about myself too.
It’s the phones.
I really feel like it is.
A lot of us need to touch some grass, respectfully. 😂
Recently I’ve been spending more time with my family than I usually do and honestly, it was very much needed.
I didn’t realize how much I needed to actually be around people.
Not FaceTime.
Not texting.
Not sending each other videos.
Actually being around people in real life.
And I had fun.
I really did.
But something I’ve noticed about myself is that being around people for long periods of time makes me anxious.
And I don’t really know why.
That’s the weird part.
Nobody has to be doing anything wrong.
I could literally be around people I love, having a good time, laughing and everything, and eventually something in me is just like okay… I’m ready to go home now.
Like immediately. 😭
And then I start thinking, why am I like this?
Why can’t I just sit somewhere and enjoy myself without eventually feeling overwhelmed or like I need to get away?
Maybe it’s because I’m home so much.
Maybe I’m so used to being in my own space and doing things on my own time that being around other people for hours feels like a lot.
Or maybe I just need time alone to recharge.
I don’t know.
I’m still figuring that part out.
But I do know that being around my family reminded me that I need to get out more.
I think sometimes we get so comfortable being at home that we don’t even realize how isolated we’ve become.
Especially now because technically you can do everything from your phone.
You can talk to people.
Shop.
Order food.
Watch movies.
Work.
Make money.
See what everybody is doing.
You can basically experience the world without ever leaving your bed.
And that sounds convenient until you realize you haven’t actually been outside doing anything.
Then one day you go somewhere and you’re like damn, people still do this? 😂
I think that’s where I’ve been.
I’ve been so used to my little bubble that getting outside of it feels weird sometimes.
But weird doesn’t necessarily mean bad.
Because even though I was anxious and eventually wanted to go home, I’m still happy I went.
I’m happy I spent time with my family.
I’m happy I laughed.
I’m happy I was actually present somewhere instead of just scrolling and watching everybody else live their lives through my screen.
And maybe I need to do that more often.
Not force myself to be around people until I’m miserable.
Not suddenly become the most social person on earth because that is definitely not happening. 😂
But just get out sometimes.
Put the phone down.
Go somewhere.
See somebody.
Make an actual memory.
Touch some damn grass.
Then go home when my social battery says absolutely not anymore. 😭
I think both can be true.
I can love being alone and still need connection.
I can enjoy being around my family and still get anxious after a while.
I can need to get out more and still need my space.
I’m learning that everything doesn’t have to be one or the other.
Maybe I just need a little more balance.
And maybe some grass. 🌱
